Fun!!

So many fun things today!

Two of the tops from this morning. Realizing that people completely miss the facetiousness in my post about bullying 3rd graders to stop bullying. **
Though, to be fair, it's not just the internet. Apparently people standing right in front of me can't tell when I'm being "for real", and when I'm not. They almost always think I'm completely serious. They say it's because I say things very matter-of-factly and with passion. If that is true, then I completely honor Brian for his contribution to this affect. I learned it from him, I'm sure.
I often find that people will tell me, months or even years after the fact, about someone else's perception of me, that I find completely strange. Then I realize it's because this person had this brief encounter with me and came away with some interesting ideas, and just rolled with it. Hey, *shrug* roll with it. What can I do about it? Go forth and proselytize among your circles with tales of my insanity.
**I was serious though.

Thing two: Re-enacting scenes from Hand That Rocks The Cradle. (I get the playground scene) I kid you not, if you have never seen that movie, you are missing out. That movie is chock full of "Oh No She Didn't!"

Next! There was a show last night, which indirectly reminded me to tell the world:
Beats Antique Contraption Vol.1 is one of the best recordings I own, and I own a lotta stuff.

It's one of those don't skip tracks on, you just leave it on repeat. It is amazing to listen to, but if you like to dance as well, I highly recommend you give it a listen and see what your body thinks of it. ;)

Here's a sample of the instruments on Contraption, in addition to the electronic:

Banjo, viola, piano, drums/percussion, theremin, antique Stroh violin, vocals and beat box (yup, wait til you hear it though), hammered dulcimer, violin, double bass, saxophones, trumpet and brass band.

"Live Organic and Electronic Instruments, Heavy Bass, Belly Dancing and a Tribal Influence", doesn't adequately cover what your brain will experience. Contraption is not just for dancers, it's not any "typical" type of music you think of when you hear such a phrase. Contraption is for everyone with ears. Esp. if you are a fan of glitchy, robust sounding things. Oh, and bass. And smooth and creamy. And something that sounds like you're throwing the best old-timey block party parade ever (#7), with fire-breathers and acrobats and dancers and confetti and oh my gosh, who brought a monkey cause the monkey just knocked over the salad bowl.
And Contraption is for musicians. Take a listen to some of these arrangements! Incredible.

Seriously, I defy anyone not to jam to this album. I'll do a more specific post on this again later I think. Yup, I think so.

Next, I'm just gonna intervene here. If you see The Human Centipede on a blog or Netflix or RedBox or where ever the hell, just go the other direction. Leave it. Really, it's not worth it.

Next, do you know how long it takes to get to Cali from the South by car? IF people are serious about us road-tripping (ooo, never been on a proper cross-country one before. I didn't go with Dominik when he went to Vegas, couldn't. Damn, German.... Awe, I didn't mean it.) then we need to organize this trip starting now. You know how you people are. Which is why I rarely commit to anything I'm still thinking about, I like to alter my plan without drama ensuing.

Next...gonna finish a painting this week. I know, shocking.

Actually, that was last, I think. Done!

  1. Well, it was 2 full days of driving to get from SoCal to southern Colorado, if that helps any...
