What's not for me to like here... feathers...face paint...weapons... Hey, have I ever talked about just how much I LOVE my tribal stuffs? Probably. I will go again. Seriously, I could just get up every day and apply paint to myself and go wandering, that'd be just fine. I could probably get away with it, too, for a little while at least before my sister called me on it, and told me to tone the crazy back down again. :D Anyhoo, several things about this one inspire different ideas for parts and accessories and stuff. It especially inspires me to get back to one of the things on my never-ending To Do List— and that's to steal a beautiful Pennsylvania Long Rifle. Or borrow one, and never give it back.
Naw, I'm kidding! I don't steal.
But I want that F-ing rifle though.

The only problem with this, and such like it, is that I have a sensitive neck. Probably a result of fairly permanent neck/spinal injury from that time I did that back flip in that moonwalk (here's a tip: a moonwalk is not really like a trampoline. and fyi, that was the last back flip i ever did.) AND anyhoo! I can wear elaborate or full head dresses, and a lot that goes on in dance too anyways, but it can't be heavy if I'm going to be wearing it for hours. So I've been experimenting with different materials for making the base for some of my stuff that is more lightweight, because once you start adding the jewelry and beads and junk, it gets heavier and heavier!
And just hypothetically, maybe this gets worn to the Falcon. I wanna hear "AWkwaaard..." coming from vicinity of BT.

Sandra and I were poking through the bookstore one day and she found this image to show me saying, "This is the one I saw and thought of you, that is SO you."
Really? Which part of this costume is so me? The giant black cats?....Or is it the sword?...or is it the kick ass hat? Or the feathers, like feathers I just happen to have a closet full of?...Or maybe it's the mask, since I'm a huge fan of masks?..or maybe it's the cloak *still has Rob's cloak, which is now my cloak*... Or maybe that it's in blacks and red, one my most favorite color-schemes...
I dunno WHAT Sandra is talking about...
Miss Muffet, BromOne of my favorites! This is def a Frolicon Saturday night costume.
It's amusing that Brian's response to this one, was Sandra's "That is so you."
But he's wrong, cause I LIKE spiders.
Anyhoo...Of these four pieces, only one of them is the inspiration for something that's actually on the drawing board right now. But the others have been inspiration for bits of other costumes, or accessories.
By the way, I should add for FYI, in case anyone else is trying to do so as well— No one will loan you leopards or panthers for costuming.
Other stuff certain "authorities" frown on, and you will not have:
baby Black bears,
vultures,
jaguars,
crows (personal favorite),
lions
wolves
or eagles.
Just sayin'.
Other random stuff:
~Wow, it's actually COLD here now. Finally. :) I just came out of my hoodie that I actually needed for outside, for the first time all year!
~The current "Songs Written For/At Me" track is H.I.M.'s "Salt In Our Wounds" -the Thulsa Doom Version (and that version ONLY. yeah, I'm super specific about it). That is one dirty, yummy beat, too.
~ I'm finding it hard to care about Where the Wild Things Are, the movie. :D I know, blasphemy, right?? Meh, go ahead, take your best shot. :D
~ I just saw that "Flirty Girl Fitness" thing and now feel as lame as it looks for watching the whole thing, waiting for the punchline.
I would be interested in seeing the costume designs that you come up with. Hope things are well with you Rachel.

ReplyDeleteBeeLow! Hi! I'm good, how goes the art with you, friend? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm actually going to be putting some effort into these costumes, so hopefully they come out okay! I'm excited about them.
Yay! The pinup art costuming continues! :) Ah, I can't wait to dive back into that kind of creative stuff. Gotta do the right research for it, too.
ReplyDeleteStill painting and stuff the usual. I am trying to keep busy until I get some work, that I really want to do and I know I will enjoy. Just been doing the usual freelance casino slot illustrations. It's something to pay the bills for the time being. Tough scheduling around that and trying to work my folio with better Illustrations and concept art. Hella hard to do both. But, yeah, I'm good, just hanging in there.
ReplyDeleteCool I am excited as well to see what you will pull off Rachel. Good luck with finishing. I will be rooting you on.
*wailing away from somewhere in the distance*, "awkwaaaaaaard…....."
ReplyDeleteand from the "Other random stuff" column:
could not agree with you more, re: WTWTA, the movie. Give me Sendak and I'm thoroughly and completely happy--nothing further required. So, you and I will stand back to back preparing for the slings and arrows…..
BT - I will attempt to restrain myself, but I'm not promising I won't do exactly that, plus the badge thing. XD
ReplyDeleteBeeLow - Hey, congrats on just being able to draw, paint, and do your art, while waiting for more desirable opportunities. Hang in there for time to balance everything out! :)
Beth-head, YES. Research and trial and error are the main goals for posting about the planning. You remember how epic my fail was for devising a 'magic bra' to wear with the Victoriania low cut for our duo. I'm still working on that one. LOL Hey, where is that picture anyway?? I need to post it in here. I can't find it on my laptop!
oh, you trouble-maker, you.....
